Accessibility statement

paultillich.de is a publicly funded university offering. We work to make this website accessible in line with the German Accessible Information Technology Ordinance (BITV 2.0) and the standard WCAG 2.1 at conformance level AA.

State of conformance

This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 AA. The points listed under “Known limitations” have not yet been fully implemented. This statement was drawn up in 2026 and is based on a self-assessment.

What is in place

A semantic document structure with a skip link to the content, headings without gaps in level, and named navigation regions.
Visible focus on every operable element; the site can be used entirely from the keyboard, including the audio player and chapter lists.
Text contrast on all surfaces exceeds the AA requirement; no information is conveyed by colour alone. Time bars always carry their value in minutes as text beside them.
Language is marked up in the document and carried along when switching; the switch leads to the same page in the other language.
Motion and transitions are suspended when the system setting “reduce motion” is active.
External videos are loaded only after an explicit click; before that no connection to the third party is made.

Known limitations

Transcripts are not yet available for all recordings. The archive holds several hours of audio material and is being catalogued step by step. Where a transcript is missing, only a summary or the context of origin is available so far. The goal is a transcript or summary for every audio and video item.
Captions on external videos are the responsibility of the respective provider and are not available throughout.
Some PDF materials taken over from the previous site are untagged and therefore only partly readable with screen readers. They will be replaced as accessible versions become available.
Image descriptions for historical visual material are not yet complete everywhere.
